Abstract

ABSTRAK Mutiah Masruroh Sagala: Pengaruh Model Discovery Learning Berbantuan Video Animasi Terhadap Kemampuan Pemahaman Konsep Matematis Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika FKIP Universitas Malikussaleh, 2026 Penelitian ini dilaksanakan berdasarkan rendahnya tingkat pemahaman konsep matematis siswa dalam studi matematika, terutama pada topik eksponensial. Kondisi ini menyebabkan siswa menghadapi hambatan signifikan kala menyelesaikan berbagai permasalahn yang membutuhkan pemahaman konsep yang baik. Faktor pemicu utamanya diidentifikasi berasal dari metode instruksional yang cenderung masih konvensional, rendahnya partisipasi aktif siswa, serta minimnya pemanfaatan teknologi di dalam ruang kelas matematika. Menanggapi hal itu, diterapkannya model pembelajaran penemuan (discovery learning) yang diintegrasikan dengan media video animasi sebagai upaya meningkatkan keterlibatan siswa dalam mengonstruksi serta memahami konsep-konsep secara mandiri. Studi ini memiliki urgensi untuk menginvestigasi signifikansi pengaruh dari model discovery learning berbantuan video animasi terhadap kompetensi pemahaman konsep matematis pada siswa kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Peusangan pada materi eksponensial. Metodologi yang diaplikasikan dalam penelitian ini yakni eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) menggunakan metode kuantatif dengan mengadopsi rancangan nonequivalent pretest posstest control group design. Lingkup populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh peserta didik kelas X SMA Negeri 2 Peusangan, serta yang menjadi sampel yaitu siswa kelas X-2 sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas X-6 sebagai kelompok kontrol yang di pilih dengan menggunakan purposive sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes kemampuan pemahaman konsep. Adapun Dikarenakan distribusi data menunjukkan pola yang tidak normal, maka tahapan analisis data dikerjakan menggunakan prosedur statistik non-parametrik berupa uji Mann-Whitney U dengan bantuan perangkat lunak SPSS versi 25 untuk sistem operasi Windows. Berdasarkan output uji Mann-Whitney U, didapatkan nilai Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) sebesar 0,002 < 0,05. Atas dasar angka tersebut, maka hipotesis H0 ditolak dan Ha diterima, yang memberikan simpulan kuat bahwa terdapat pengaruh signifikan dari penggunaan model discovery learning berbantuan video animasi terhadap kapasitas pemahaman konsep matematis siswa. ABSTRAK Mutiah Masruroh Sagala: The Effect of Animated Video-Assisted Discovery Learning on Mathematical Concept Understanding. Mathematics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Malikussaleh University, 2026 This study was conducted in response to the low level of students’ understanding of mathematical concepts, particularly in the topic of exponentials. This condition causes students to face significant obstacles when solving problems that require strong conceptual understanding. The main contributing factors were identified as the continued use of conventional instructional methods, low levels of active student participation, and minimal utilization of technology in the mathematics classroom. To address this issue, a discovery learning model integrated with animated video media was implemented as an effort to enhance student engagement in independently constructing and understanding mathematical concepts. This study is considered urgent in investigating the significance of the effect of a discovery learning model assisted by animated videos on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding in Grade X students of SMA Negeri 2 Peusangan on exponential material. The methodology applied in this research was a quasi-experimental design using a quantitative approach, adopting the nonequivalent pretest–posttest control group design. The population of the study included all Grade X students of SMA Negeri 2 Peusangan, with the sample consisting of students from class X-2 as the experimental group and class X-6 as the control group, selected using purposive sampling.The data collection technique employed was a test instrument measuring conceptual understanding ability. Since the data distribution was not normal, data analysis was conducted using a non-parametric statistical procedure, namely the Mann–Whitney U test, with the assistance of SPSS version 25 for Windows. Based on the Mann–Whitney U test results, the Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value obtained was 0.002 < 0.05. On this basis, the null hypothesis (H₀) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Hₐ) was accepted, leading to the strong conclusion that there is a significant effect of using a discovery learning model assisted by animated videos on students’ mathematical conceptual understanding ability..
