Abstract

Ultisols are known as soils that have undergone intensive weathering, but have great potential for agricultural development. North Aceh Ultisol soils are low in fertility, nutrients with low organic matter and acidity reaction. This study aims to determine the composting solid and liquid coffee peel on improving the chemical properties of ultisol soil and the growth of ultisol soil and Liberika coffee seedling growth. This study were used two-factor randomized block design with three replications consisting of the first factor is solid compost of coffee skin waste with four levels, the second factor is liquid compost of coffee skin waste with four levels. waste with four levels, the second factor is liquid compost of coffee skin waste with four levels. Soil chemical properties observed were available-P, organic-C, total-K, In addition, root length, root crown ratio, percentage of Liberica coffee seedling growth were also observed. The results showed that solid compost increased of available-P around 6,08%, organic-C 1.79%, total-K 51.86%. The provision of solid compost did not had significant on root length, root crown ratio and growth percentage. Liquid compost increased available-P around 1,35%, organic-C 0.09%, total-K 2.6%. The application of liquid compost were not significant on root length and root crown ratio while on the variable percentage of growth variable had a very real effect. Combined solid and liquid coffee skin compost increased available-P around 7.32% organic-C 2.87%, total- K 50,26%. The use of a combination of solid compost and coffee skin liquid compost interacted were not significantly on root length, root crown ratio and growth percentage of Liberika coffee seedlings. Keywords, Organic matter, phosphorus, potassium, coffee plants
