Abstract
ABSTRACT White snapper is one of marine aquaculture commodities in Indonesia. White snapper has a high economic value, both for domestic and foreign consumption needs. The success of white snapper aquaculture is largely determined by the availability of feed. To overcome this problem, it is necessary to make independent feed using local ingredients with high protein and easily available. One of them is fishmeal, but the price of fish is expensive so it is necessary to substitute with cheaper ingredients to be used as feed ingredients, namely earthworm flour. This study aims to determine the effect of substituting earthworm meal with fishmeal in artificial feed on the growth and survival of white snapper fish seeds. This research was conducted from 02 to 31 May 2024 at the Hatchery and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program and proximate tests were carried out at the Medan Industrial Services Standardization and Services Center. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments 3 replicates. Treatment A (without earthworm meal), B (80% feed formulation + 20% earthworm meal), C (70% feed formulation + 30% earthworm meal), D (60% feed formulation + 40% earthworm meal). The best results in treatment D with a length of 2.2 cm and a weight of 3.46 grams, an FCR value of 1.65 very brown in color with a very pungent aroma and a SR value of 91.11%, a feed response of 2 minutes 4 seconds with a protein content value of 50.5%. The results of water quality measurements during the study were temperature 27.1 - 28.5oC, salinity 19 - 20 ppt, pH 7.5 - 8.5 and DO 5.6 - 8.4 mg/L. Keywords:, Earthworms, Snapper, Feed, Growth , Survival.
