Abstract

Based on WHO data, it is estimated that the maternal mortality rate is more than 295 thousand mothers who die every year during pregnancy or childbirth throughout the world. Aceh Province in 2020-2021 saw 381 deaths from a total of 219,470 live births and in 2021 there were 55 cases caused by bleeding. The causes of death are complications during pregnancy or during childbirth in the form of bleeding, and complications during childbirth. Bleeding as a cause of maternal death consists of antepartum hemorrhage and postpartum hemorrhage. Placenta previa is one of the causes of antepartum hemorrhage. Placenta previa is a placenta that attaches to the lower part of the uterus and covers all or part of the internal uterine ostium. This study aims to determine the description of placenta previa cases in private hospitals in the city of Lhokseumawe in 2022. The description of the cases seen in this study concerns the type of placenta previa, morbidity and mortality caused by placenta previa. The sampling method used was the total sampling method so that the samples obtained in this research were all pregnant women suffering from placenta previa with a total of 70 patients. Data was obtained through medical records in 2022. The results of this study show that the most common type of placenta is total placenta previa at 57.1%, followed by partial placenta previa and low lying placenta at 15.7% each, and marginal placenta previa at 11.4%. Then, morbidity was found in 32.8% of the population and no mortality was found in this study. Keywords: Placenta Previa, Morbidity, Mortality
