Abstract

Aceh became the first region in Indonesia to use electric vehicles for operational transportation. The Aceh government chose electric vehicles to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and support local innovation as well as the transition to eco- friendly transportation. However, the implementation of environmentally friendly vehicles has not been successful, as seen in Lhokseumawe, where only 11 units are in use, all of which were donated by the Aceh regional government, with no private ownership. This reflects the lack of intention among Lhokseumawe residents to purchase electric vehicles. The awareness of Lhokseumawe’s citizens about the importance of environmental protection is one of the factors influencing the lack of purchase intention. This study aims to examine the purchase intention of Lhokseumawe residents toward eco-friendly vehicles. The research uses primary data collected through a questionnaire survey. The respondents consist of 100 residents of Lhokseumawe who still use conventional vehicles. The data analysis method employed is multiple linear regression, along with hypothesis testing using the t-test (partial test). The instrument testing results show that the data is valid and reliable, making it suitable as a baseline for the research. The findings indicate that, partially, Environmental Knowledge and Self-Expressive Benefit have a positive and significant influence on the intention to purchase eco- friendly vehicles. Meanwhile, Environmental Concern has a positive but not significant effect on purchase intention. Overall, Lhokseumawe residents are still considering whether to transition to eco-friendly vehicles.
