Abstract

Shallots (Allium ascalonicum L.) are one of the spice vegetable commodities that have very good prospects and quite high economic value. Increasing the productivity of shallot plants can be done through a good and correct cultivation system. One of them is using loose planting media that is rich in nutrients. In addition, in shallot cultivation, fertilization is needed, one of which is fertilization using fertilizers containing potassium nutrients which are very much needed by bulb plants. This study aims to determine the growth and yield of shallots due to the provision of a mixture of planting media and KCl fertilizer. This research was conducted in Krueng Geukuh Village, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency. This research was conducted from March to May 2024. This study used a Factorial Randomized Block Design with 3 replications. The first factor is the planting medium consisting of (M0) soil, (M1) 2 bowls of soil + 2 bowls of rice husk biochar + 1 bowl of kirinyuh leaf compost, (M2) 2 bowls of soil + 1 bowl of rice husk biochar + 2 bowls of kirinyuh leaf compost. The second factor is KCl fertilizer consisting of (K0) 0 g/plant, (K1) 0.50 g/plant, (K2) 0.75 g/plant. The results of the study showed that the provision of a mixture of planting media had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height, number of shoots, number of leaves and root length. The provision of KCl fertilizer had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height, number of tubers, tuber diameter, wet weight of tubers, dry weight of tubers, and marketable tuber weight.
