Abstract

The need for agricultural land is increasing along with population growth, yet suitable land for farming activities is limited. This poses a challenge in increasing food production to meet the needs of the population. This research aims to evaluate land capability in the Kreung Pase Watershed, North Aceh District. The study employs a survey method consisting of four stages: preparation, preliminary survey, main survey, and data analysis with presentation of results. The research was conducted from March 2024 to April 2024. Soil analysis will be performed at the Soil Science Laboratory of Malikussaleh University, Soil Physics and Environmental Laboratory of Syiah Kuala University, and Soil and Plant Research Laboratory of Syiah Kuala University. The research findings indicate that the study area consists of 8 land capability classes: LMU 1, 4, and 6 have slope as a limiting factor (VIl4). LMU 2 has erosion sensitivity as a limiting factor (IIIKE5). LMU 3 and 7 have slope as a limiting factor (IVl3). LMU 8 has both slope and erosion sensitivity as limiting factors (IIIl2,KE5). LMU 9 has slope, erosion sensitivity, and gravel/rock as limiting factors (IVl3,KE6,b2). LMU 11 has erosion and drainage as limiting factors (IIe1,d2). LMU 14 has erosion, effective depth, and drainage as limiting factors (IIe1,k1,d2). LMU 16 has erosion sensitivity, effective depth, and gravel/rock as limiting factors (IIIKE5,k2,b1).
