Abstract

Durian (Durio zibethinus L.) is one of the fruit plants that is favorite by almost all people because it has a distinctive flavor and aroma and is dubbed “the king of the fruit”. Propagation technology in durian cultivation quickly is grafting, which is a technique of uniting the shoots of the scion candidate with the rootstock candidate, so that a new stem can be obtained that has superior properties. This study aims to determine the effect of rootstock age and length of different entres on the success of grafting shoots on durian plants. This research was conducted in Teupin Rusep Village, Sawang District. This research was conducted for 5 months from December to April 2024. This study uses a factorial Randomized Group Design (RGD) method with two factors. The first factor observed was the age of the rootstock consisting of 4 levels, namely U1 (3 weeks), U2 (6 weeks), U3 (9 weeks), and U4 (12 weeks). The second factor is the length of the scion consisting of 3 levels, namely P1 (4 cm long), P2 (8 cm long) and P3 (12 cm long). rootstock age treatment affects the success of durian plant shoot grafting on the percentage of success, shoot length and number of leaves 60 Day After Grafting (DAG). The best treatment is 6 weeks old rootstock. The treatment of scion length affects the percentage of success, leaf area, number of leaves 50 and 60 DAG. there is no interaction between the treatment of rootstock age and different scion lengths on the success of grafting shoots on durian plants.
