Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) is one of the horticultural commodities with high economic value. Tomatoes are a vegetable commodity that is very important in supporting food availability and nutritional adequacy of the community. One of the efforts to increase the productivity of tomato plants is to increase fertility in the soil through the use of organic fertilizers. The application of organic fertilizers is very well used to improve physical properties. The purpose of this study was to further determine the effectiveness of the best compost and the best varietal response to the growth and production of tomato plants. This research will be carried out at the Universitas Malikussaleh Experimental Garden and also carried out at the Agroecotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Malikussaleh. This study was conducted for 3 months from June to August 2023. This study was conducted using the Randomized Block Design research method with the first factor repeksi is compost consisting of (K0) top soil (control), (K1) top soil + compost (1: 1), (K2) top soil + compost (1: 2), and (K3) top soil + compost (1: 3). The second factor is tomato plant varieties consisting of (V1) Servo variety F1, (V2) Gustavi variety F1 and (V3) Palupi variety. The results showed that compost affects plant height, stem diameter, chlorophyll content, and root length. The best use of compost is at the level of K3. Varieties singly affect plant height 35 and 42 Days After Planting, variable stem diameter 14 and 21 Days After Planting and variable chlorophyll 28 and 42 Days After Planting . No interaction between compost and variety treatment combinations against modifiers was observed. Keywords : Commodity, Compost, Varieties, Plant Height, Fruit Length
