Abstract

The total energy consumption in the Kepulauan Banyak region continues to increase by 6% annually. Meanwhile, the supply of electrical energy in the area is still provided by Diesel Power Plants, making it expensive and increasing carbon emissions. Integrating electricity distribution in a region that spans several islands is challenging, resulting in uneven electricity supply in each area. To reduce dependence on fossil fuels and move towards environmentally friendly energy transition, there is a need to explore the potential of renewable energy in the Kepulauan Banyak region. This study utilizes RETScreen Expert analysis to estimate the energy potential that can be developed in a particular area. Economic feasibility analysis between Solar Photovoltaic and Wind Turbine is conducted using three project lifespan scenarios (20, 30, and 40 years). The research results indicate that, among the three scenarios, wind energy is the most potential renewable energy source to be developed. It can meet the energy needs and is considered feasible for development in the Kepulauan Banyak region.
