Abstract

Swordtail fish (Xiphoporus helleri) is one type of fish that is very popular with the community and ornamental fish farmers breeders because it has a beautiful shape, color, easy to maintain and easy to breed. The problem that occurs in the cultivation of sword platy is that male sword platy fish are more popular because they have a more attractive color and morphology than female fish but the population of male fish is very minimal due to the low knowledge of sword platy fish farmers. Efforts that can be made to increase the male fish population are through masculinization. The purpose of this research was to test the effectiveness of Eurycoma longifolia root extract on the masculinization of sword platy fish, determine the best dose and the effect on the survival of sword platy fish, gonad development, and growth rate. This research used the RAL method which consisted of 5 treatments and 3 tests. Control A treatment, without mixture of Eurycoma longifolia root extract, treatment B (30 ppm), treatment C (35 ppm), treatment D (40 ppm) and treatment E (45 ppm). Descriptive analysis of the results of masculinization of sword platy fish with peg earth root extract has an effect on increasing the population of sword platy fish. Statistical analysis of the F(ANOVA) test yielded no effect on growth and influence on survival rate. The best results of SGR length and weight results were found in treatment A with a weight gain of 0.12% per week and a length gain of 0.66% per week. For the best results, the survival rate of the results was found in treatment A with a value of 100%.
