Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the magnitude of the contribution of housewives’ income in Gampong Tanoh anoe, Jangka District, Bireuen Regency. This research employed a quantitative descriptive method. Data were collected throung interviews and observations pf 45 respondents selected using a census technique.the results indicate that the average contribution of housewives’ income to family inome is 52,27%, which is classified as a moderate category, ranging from 40% to 59%. Therefore, the role of housewives in salt production not only contributes economically but also reflects womwn’s independence and active participation in household level economic activities. In addition, the existence of salt production enterprises provides opportunities of housewives to improve family economic conditions and reduce dependence on a single primary source of income.
