Abstract

ABSTRAK Gastroenteritis adalah penyakit infeksi saluran pencernaan yang ditandai dengan buang air besar dengan intensitas buang air besar secara berlebihan lebih dari 3 kali dalam kurun waktu 24 jam, dengan atau tanpa di sertai muntah, serta ketidaknyamanan abdomen. Peran ibu sangat penting dalam upaya pencegahan suatu penyakit yang bisa terjadi pada balita misalnya gastroenteritis. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara tingkat pengetahuan ibu dengan kejadian gastroenteritis pada balita. Jenis penelitian adalah Cross Sectional. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah ibu yang memilki balita yang didiagnosis gastroenteritis yang berobat ke puskesmas wilayah kerja Kota Lhoksemawe. Teknik yang digunakan Proportional Staratified Random Sampling sebanyak 82 orang yang selanjutnya dibagi dalam 4 puskesmas. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan pengisian kuisioner. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan pengetahuan ibu dengan kejadian gastroenteritis. Hasil analisis menggunakan uji Chi-Square menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu dengan kejadian gastroenteritis (p=0,016). Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan antara pengetahuan ibu dengan kejadian gastroenteritis pada balita. Kata Kunci : gastroenteritis, ibu, balita, pengetahuan ii ABSTRACT Gastroenteritis is an infectious disease of the digestive tract characterized by diarrhea with an excessive frequency of bowel movements more than three times within a 24-hour period, with or without vomiting, accompanied by abdominal discomfort. The role of mothers is very important in efforts to prevent diseases that may occur in toddlers, such as gastroenteritis. This study aimed to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge and the incidence of gastroenteritis in toddlers. This research used a cross-sectional design. The sample in this study consisted of mothers who had toddlers diagnosed with gastroenteritis and sought treatment at public health centers within the working area of Lhokseumawe City. The sampling technique used was proportional stratified random sampling, involving 82 respondents who were subsequently distributed across four public health centers. Data were collected using questionnaires. The results of this study showed that there was a relationship between maternal knowledge and the incidence of gastroenteritis. The analysis using the Chi-Square test indicated a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and the incidence of gastroenteritis (p = 0.016). The conclusion of this study is that there is a relationship between maternal knowledge and the incidence of gastroenteritis in toddlers. Keywords : gastroenteritis, mother, toddler, knowledge
