Abstract

Pelangi beach directly facing the Strait of Malacca and is a coastal area that has several beach attractions. Sedimentation is the process of settling solids in liquids due to the gravitational forces of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. Deposition that occurs continuously will cause siltation that affects the coastal area. This research was conducted in October 2024. Sediment sampling was carried out at three observation stations using the survey method with the determination of sampling points using purposive sampling. The results showed that the sedimentation rate in the coastal waters of Pelangi Beach Sigli Sub-District Kota Sigli District Pidie Aceh ranged from 744.15-1,261.05 mg/cm²/day. Meanwhile, the highest sedimentation rate value was obtained at station 1 with a value of 1,261.05 mg/cm²/day. The types of sediment fractions found at the three stations are grains, very coarse sand, coarse sand, moderately coarse sand, fine sand, very fine sand, silt. The sediment fraction with the highest percentage is fine sand found at station 1 with a percentage of 79.95%. The current speed at the three observation stations obtained values ranging from 0.15 to 0.19, where the highest current speed is found at station 1. The highest tide occurred on day 4 with a height of 144 cm at 14.00 WIB.
