Abstract
MERY ANJELI SIREGAR: Hate Speech Against 2024 Presidential Candidates In Tiktok Account Comment Section. Indonesian Language Education Study Program, Fakulty of Teacher Training and Education, Malikussaleh University, 2025. This study aims to describe the types of hate speech and the meanings contained therein. The type of research is descriptive qualitative. The research data consists of words and sentences containing hate speech obtained from the TikTok accounts of Gerindra, Detik.Com, Nasdem, Tempo.Co, Kompas.Tv, Gerald Vincent, and Rian Fahardhi. The data sources in this study are comments from TikTok accounts. The data collection techniques used in this study are reading, documentation, and note-taking. Based on the research findings, the most common type of hate speech is insults, with 39 data points, followed by defamation (14 data points), provocation (7 data points), and the spread of false news (2 data points). The types of lexical meaning found were 15 instances, grammatical meaning 21 instances, conceptual meaning 15 instances, and associative meaning 14 instances. The most frequently found data in this study is the category of insults. This is due to several factors, such as the past controversy involving the figure in question related to human rights violations in 1998. On the other hand, the least frequently found types of hate speech were dissemination of false information, each appearing only twice in the data. The most common type of meaning found in this study is grammatical meaning. This is because the use of affixes in the language can alter both the meaning and function of a sentence. Conversely, the least common type is associative meaning, as many comments employ either straightforward or indirect expressions, resulting in a lower frequency of associative meanings in hate speech. Keywords: hate speech, TikTok, 2024 presidential candidates
