Abstract
Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata Sturt) is a food commodity that is favored by many people and has a high economic value. Maize is also beneficial for health because it is a source of fiber and nutrients. The many contents contained in sweet corn, causing this commodity to be much needed by consumers both in fresh form and as processed raw materials. This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer liquid organic fertilizer banana pith and cow manure on the growth and yield of sweet corn plants. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Malikussaleh and the Agriculture Laboratory of Malikussaleh University from March to May 2025. This study used a 2 factor Randomized Group Design with 3 replications. The results showed that the single application of banana pith liquid organic fertilizer increased the variables of plant height, chlorophyll 42 days after planting, weight of cob with and without cob, diameter of cob with and without cob, length of cob with and without cob, number of seeds per row, sweetness content and production per ha of the best treatment in B2 (60 ml/liter). There is an interaction between liquid organic fertilizer from banana stumps and cow manure, which can be seen in the height of plants aged 28 and 42 days after planting, leaf chlorophyll, weight of cobs with husks, weight of cobs without husks, length of cobs without husks, sweetness levels and production per hectare.
