Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is one of the commodities that contribute greatly to the production of palm oil in the world market. Oil palm nursery is an early stage that is very important to the quantity and quality of production. This study aimed to determine the effect of rice husk biochar and NPK fertilizer on oil palm seedlings in the pre-nursery phase. This research was conducted in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture and the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Malikussaleh from December to March 2025. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors tested. The first factor was rice husk biochar consisted of 3 levels namely B0 (Control), B1 (rice husk and top soil 1:3), and B2 (rice husk and top soil 1:4). The second factor was NPK fertilizer consisted of 3 levels, namely N0 (0 g/polybag), N1 (4 g/polybag), and N2 (5 g/polybag). The results showed that rice husk biochar treatment had an effect on plant height 30 DAP, 45 DAP, and 75 DAP, number of leaves 30 DAP, 45 DAP, and 90 DAP, stem diameter 75 DAP, root volume 90 DAP, and root length 90 DAP. The best treatment was obtained by gived rice husk biochar and top soil 1: 4 (v/v). NPK fertilizer treatment affects plant height 30-45 DAP, number of leaves 30-45 DAP, and leaf chlorophyll 60 DAP. The best treatment was obtained by applyed NPK fertilizer 4 g/polybag. There is an interaction between the treatment of rice husk biochar and NPK fertilizer on plant height 30 DAP. The best treatment was obtained in the combination of Biochar treatment and top soil 1: 4 and NPK fertilizer 4 g/polybag. Keywords: biochar, inorganic, land, nursery, top soil.
