Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran perilaku asertif mahasiswa rantau asal Papua di Universitas Malikussaleh. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan analisis univariat yang bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan perilaku asertif pada mahasiswa rantau asal Papua tanpa membuat perbandingan atau menghubungkan dengan variabel lainnya. Data diperoleh melalui skala perilaku asertif berdasarkan aspek perilaku asertif Alberti dan Emmons (2017). Adapun subjek dalam penelitian ini adalah lima puluh delapan mahasiswa rantau asal Papua di Universitas Malikussaleh yang diperoleh berdasarkan metode nonprobability sampling dengan teknik total sampling. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa rantau asal Papua di Universitas Malikussaleh mayoritas sudah berperilaku asertif. Hal ini berarti mahasiswa rantau asal Papua sudah mampu untuk mengekspresikan pikiran, pendapat, perasaan maupun kebutuhan dengan tegas tanpa merasa cemas dengan tetap mengedepankan haknya tanpa melanggar hak orang lain, sehingga terciptanya kesejahteraan pada diri pribadi dan terciptanya kesetaraan dalam menjalin hubungan interpersonal. Kata Kunci: Mahasiswa Papua, Mahasiswa Rantau, Perilaku Asertif This study aims to determine the description of the assertive behavior of Papuan migrant students at Malikussaleh University. The research method used in this study is a descriptive quantitative method with univariate analysis which aims to describe the assertive behavior of Papuan migrant students without making comparisons or connecting with other variables. Data were obtained through an assertive behavior scale based on the assertive behavior aspects of Alberti and Emmons (2017). The subjects in this study were fifty-eight Papuan migrant students at Malikussaleh University who were obtained based on the nonprobability sampling method with total sampling techniques. The results of this study indicate that the majority of Papuan students at Malikussaleh University exhibit assertive behavior. This means that Papuan students are able to express their thoughts, opinions, feelings, and needs firmly without feeling anxious, while still prioritizing their own rights without violating the rights of others, thus creating personal well-being and equality in interpersonal relationships.
