Abstract

ABSTRACT This research aims to analyze the competitiveness of Indonesian and Vietnamese coffee commodities in the ASEAN market using the Revealed Comparative Advantage (RCA) method, based on export data from 2004–2023. Indonesia and Vietnam are two major coffee-producing countries in Southeast Asia with different export characteristics. The data used are secondary data from UN Comtrade and ASEAN Stats Information Entrance. The analysis results show that the average RCA value of Indonesian coffee during the period was 7.995, indicating that Indonesia has a comparative advantage in coffee exports to the ASEAN market. However, this figure is still lower than that of Vietnam, which had an average RCA of 35.18, showing a higher level of competitiveness in coffee exports in the region. Although both countries demonstrate strong competitiveness, the fluctuating trends over time emphasize the importance of innovation, quality improvement, and adaptive export policies to maintain their position in the ASEAN market. This research provides valuable insights for governments and stakeholders in developing strategies to enhance the competitiveness of Indonesian coffee in the regional market.
