Abstract
Shallots are one of the leading vegetable commodities that farmers have cultivated intensively for a long time. This vegetable commodity is included in the group of non-substituted spices which function as food seasonings and traditional medicinal ingredients. Shallots are also called layered bulbs with a specific aroma that can stimulate tears due to the etheric oil content of alliin. This research aims to determine the differences in growth and yield, as well as to analyze the similarity level among three varieties of shallots. This research was conducted in Lut Tawar District, Central Aceh Regency, which was carried out in 2020, Laboratory analysis was conducted at the Agroecotechnology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture Malikussaleh University. The experimental design used was a single-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The varieties used were Gayo, Tajuk and Batu Ijo. The research results showed that the growth and performance of Gayo shallots was different from Batu Ijo and Tajuk. Batu Ijo had better growth and yield of tubers compared to Gayo and Tajuk shallots. The physical appearance of the plants and tuber yields from Gayo were more similar to Tajuk than Batu Ijo. The similarity quotient of three shallot varieties grown in Takengon had a value of 0,57 – 0,67 (57% - 67%). Gayo shallots had a higher percentage similarity level with Tajuk (67%), while with Bajtu Ijo the similarity level was low (57%). Keywords: Breeding, characteristics, superior, identification
