Abstract

ABSTRACT Saline tilapia is a high salinity tolerant hybrid tilapia seed resulting from genetic improvement, tapable of developing and growin brackish waters with a salinity range of 20 ppt - 32 ppt due to its euryhaline character. The cultivation of this fish is increasing due to the high market demand, both locally and for export. However, in cultivation, several problems often arise such as slow growth rates caused by environmental factors and poor feed quality. One alternative solution is the use of functional feed made from natural ingredients, such as fermented banana peels, known for their high antioxidant content. This study aimed to evaluate the effect of the adding fermented banana peel to feed on the growth performance of saline tilapia. This research was conducted from November 12 to December 12, 2024, at the Hatchery and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, and the proximate analysis was tarried out Baristand, Medan City. This study used a non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of four treatments with three replication: Treatment A (100% commercial feed), Treatment B (10% fermented banana peel + 90% commercial feed), Treatment C (20% fermented banana peel + 80% commercial feed), and Treatment D (30% fermented banana peel + 70% commercial feed). Based on the F test (ANOVA) result, the addition of fermented banana peel had a significant effect on absolute weight gain, absolute length gain, feed response, Feed Convertion Ratio (FCR), and survival rate. The best results were obtained in treatment B with an average absolute weight gain of 0,44 g, absolute length gain of 0,40 cm, FCR of 1,75, and a survival rate of 93,33%, in the best feed response in treatment D, 0,77 minutes or 46,2 seconds. Organoleptic tests indicated the feed in Treatment D had a very pungent aroma and a dark brown color. Water quality measurements during the study remained the within optimal range, with a temperature of 25°C-27,9°C, salinity of 15 ppt, dissolved oxygen levels of 5,15-6,17 ppm, and pH ranging from 7,7 to 8,5. Keywords : Tilapia, Feed, Banana Peel, Fermentation, GrowthABSTRAK Ikan nila salin merupakan benih ikan nila hibrida toleran salinitas tinggi hasil perbaikan genetik yang mampu berkembang dan tumbuh di perairan payau dengan kadar garam 20 ppt - 32 ppt melalui pemanfaatan karakter euryhaline yang dimiliki. Budidaya ikan ini semakin berkembang karena tingginya permintaan pasar, baik lokal maupun ekspor. Namun, dalam budidaya sering ditemukan permasalahan seperti pertumbuhan ikan yang lambat disebabkan oleh kondisi lingkungan dan kualitas pakan yang kurang sesuai. Salah satu cara yang dapat diterapkan adalah penggunaan pakan fungsional berbahan dasar alami seperti kulit pisang raja yang telah difermentasi dan diketahui memiliki kandungan antioksidan tinggi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan kulit pisang raja fermentasi dalam pakan terhadap pertumbuhan benih ikan nila salin. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 12 November - 12 Desember 2024 yang bertempat di Laboratorium Hatchery dan Teknologi Budidaya, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Malikussaleh, dan untuk uji proksimat dilakukan di Baristand Kota Medan. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial yang terdiri dari empat perlakuan dan tiga ulangan. Perlakuan A (pakan komersial 100%), Perlakuan B (kulit pisang fermentasi 10% + pakan komersial 90%), Perlakuan C (kulit pisang fermentasi 20% + pakan komersial 80%), dan Perlakuan D (kulit pisang fermentasi 30% + pakan komersial 70%). Berdasarkan hasil uji F (ANOVA) memberikan hasil berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan bobot mutlak, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak, respon pakan, Feed Convertion Ratio (FCR), dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup. Hasil terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan B dengan nilai rata-rata pertumbuhan bobot mutlak 0,44 g, pertumbuhan panjang mutlak 0,40 cm, FCR 1,75, dan tingkat kelangsungan hidup 93,33%, pada respon pakan hasil terbaik pada perlakuan D 0,77 menit atau 46,2 detik. Uji organoleptik menunjukkan pakan dengan perlakuan D memiliki aroma sangat menyengat dan warna sangat cokelat. Hasil pengukuran kualitas air selama penelitian berada pada kisaran optimal dengan suhu 25°C–27,9°C, salinitas 15 ppt, oksigen terlarut 5,15–6,17 ppm, dan pH 7,7–8,5.
