Abstract
ABSTRACT White snapper (Lates calcarifer) farming holds significant potential for development. One key factor determining the success of this endeavor is the provision of optimal feed, as it serves as the primary source of nutrition growth performance and water quality. A common challenge in white snapper farming is that hatchery-produced fry still rely on commercial feed, which often results in slow growth rates. One potential solution is the use of recombinant Growth Hormone (rGH) as a feed additive. This study aims to investigate the effects of administering rGH through feed at varying intervals on the growth performance and survival of white snapper seeds. The research was conducted from November 12 to December 12, 2024, at the Hatchery and Aquaculture Technology Laboratory, Aquaculture Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. A non-factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) was employed, consisting of four treatments with three replications each: Treatment A (control, without rGH), Treatment B (rGH administered daily), Treatment C (rGH administered every two days), and Treatment D (rGH administered every three days). The results, based on ANOVA, revealed significant effects on length gain, weight gain, and Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR), but no significant impact on the survival rate of white snapper seeds. Treatment D yielded the most promising results, with a length gain of 1.40 cm, weight gain of 2.49 grams, an FCR of 1.78, and a survival rate of 77%. Water quality measurements during the study ranged 25.1-27.3°C for temperature, salinity 20 ppt, dissolved oxygen 4.22-5.45 mg/L, and pH (7.4-8.4). Keywords: recombinant Growth Hormone (rGH), white snapper, growth, survival rate.ABSTRAK Budidaya ikan kakap putih (Lates calcarifer) memiliki potensi besar untuk dikembangkan. Salah satu faktor kunci keberhasilan budidaya adalah pemberian pakan yang tepat, karena pakan merupakan sumber gizi utama yang mempengaruhi pertumbuhan dan kualitas air. Hal yang sering di jumpai pada budidaya ikan kakap putih di antaranya ialah benih asal hatchery masih mengandalkan pakan komersil namun masih tergolong lambat pertumbuhannya. Salah satu bahan yang digunakan untuk pakan ikan kakap putih adalah pemberian rGH (recombinant Growth Hormone). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pemberian recombinant Growth Hormone (rGH) melalui pakan dengan interval waktu yang berbeda terhadap pertumbuhan dan kelangsungan hidup benih ikan kakap putih. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan pada tanggal 12 November - 12 Desember 2024 di Laboratorium Hatchery dan Teknologi Budidaya, Program Studi Akuakultur, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Malikussaleh. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) non faktorial yang terdiri dari 4 perlakuan 3 ulangan yaitu perlakuan A (Pemberian pakan tanpa rGH/kontrol), perlakuan B (Pemberian pakan rGH setiap hari), perlakuan C (Pemberian pakan rGH setiap dua hari), perlakuan D (Pemberian pakan rGH setiap tiga hari). Hasil penelitian ini berdasarkan uji F (ANOVA) menunjukkan hasil berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertambahan panjang, pertambahan bobot, FCR dan tidak berpengaruh terhadap tingkat kelangsungan hidup benih ikan kakap putih. Hasil terbaik pada perlakuan D dengan panjang 1,40 cm, pertambahan bobot 2,49 gram, nilai FCR 1,78 dan SR 77%. Hasil pengukuran kualitas air selama penelitian yaitu suhu 25,1-27,3°C, salinitas 20 ppt, DO 4,22-5,45 mg/L dan pH 7,4 – 8,4.
