Abstract

Mung beans are the third legume crop in Indonesia after soybeans and peanuts, which are widely cultivated. This study aims to determine the influence of shade on the growth of several varieties of mung bean plants. It was carried out in the experimental land of Agroecotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency. The research starts from May to July 2024. Using the Split Plot Design, three replicates where the treatment consisted of 2 shade levels (N), namely N0 (control) and N1 (65% shade) as the main plot. The second treatment consisted of 4 varieties (V), namely V1 (Vima-1 variety), V2 (Vima-2 variety), V3 (Vima-3 variety), V4 (Kutilang variety) as a plot. The results showed that shade had a very significant effect on plant height of 2 to 8 MST, number of leaves 6 MST, harvest age, pod length and significantly different from the number of leaves of 4 MST, flowering age, number of pods per plot. Variety treatment had a very significant effect on plant height of 4, 6 and 8 MST, number of leaves 6 MST, flowering age, harvest age and had a significant effect on plant height of 2 MST, number of leaves 4 MST, pod length, and weight of 100 seeds. There was a interaction between shade and variety on plant height of 8 MST and pod length. The best shade treatment at 0% shade and the best variety treatment at Vima-3.
