Abstract

ABSTRACT Shallots have many health advantages and economic value, in addition to being a flavoring for cooking, shallots are utilized in the industry. The need for shallots continues to rise, which makes an increase in shallot productivity to continue to be fulfilled. To gain the growing demand for shallots, attempts are being made to improve production through the addition nutrients into the soil using compost and mycorrhiza. This study aims to determine the effect of biocompost and mycorrhiza fertilizers and their interactions on the growth and yield of shallot plants. This study was carried out in the Experimental Garden and Laboratory of Malikussaleh University's Faculty of Agriculture from September to December 2023. This study used a Randomized Block Design Factorial. The first factor was biocompost fertilizer dose, which has three levels: B0 (Control), B1 (5 g/plant), and B2 (10 g/plant). The second factor, was mycorrhiza dose had 3 levels, namely M0 (0 g/plant), M1 (10 g/plant), and M2 (15 g/plant). Thus, there were 9 treatment combinations in which each treatment was repeated 3 times to obtain 27 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 20 plants/beds. The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, number of tubers, root volume, root length, root weight, wet weight of tubers per clump, dry weight of tubers per clump, tuber weight loss, and root infection. The analysis showed that the application of biocompost fertilizer had no significant effect on all variables, the application of mycorrhiza also had no significant effect on all variables but had a significant effect on root infection. There is an interaction between biocompost fertilizer and mycorrhiza on plant height 14 days after planting. Keywords:mychoriza, biocompos, horticulture
