Abstract

ABSTRACT This research was conducted to determine the effect of soaking with KNO3 on the germination of coffee seeds. This research was conducted at the Agroecotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, from June to September 2024. This study usesda two-factor completely randomized design (CRD) with three replications. The first factor was soaking, which consistsed of 0, 20, 24, and 28 hours. The second factor nas KNO3 concentration, which consistsed of 0%, 0.25%, and 0.5%. The observationswere variables. include maximum growth potential, germination rate, growth uniformity, growth rate, and vigor index. The research results showed that soaking with KNO3 had a significantly different effected on the growth uniformity and vigor index variables. KNO3 concentration had no significantly different effected on all the variables. There was an interaction occurred between soaking and KNO3 concentration on the maximum growth potential, growth synchronously, growth rate and vigor index variables. The best results were showed with a 20-minute soaking using 0.5% KNO3. Keywords: Chemical, dormancy, viability, and vigor
