Abstract

ABSTRACT The purpose of this study was to determine the storability of papaya seeds in the treatment of different storage lengths and various storage media on the viability and vigor of papaya seeds. This research was conducted at the Agroecotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University from November to December 2024, using a completely randomized design with two factors, namely storage duration (0 weeks, one weeks, two weeks) and packaging (paper envelope, zipper plastic, aluminum foil) with three repetitions. Parameters observed included moisture content, maximum growth potential, vigor index, germination power, growth appearance, growth speed, plant height, and number of leaves. The results showed an interaction between storage duration and packaging type on moisture content, germination, and growth rate. The best treatment was obtained in the treatment of one week storage.
