Abstract

ABSTRACT Sweet corn (Zea mays saccharata L) is the second source of carbohydrate after rice that is consumed by the Indonesian people. Sweet corn is rich in vitamins and minerals, corn contains calories, fiber, vitamins and minerals and is a healthy source of antioxidants. According to BPS data, sweet corn production in Indonesia decreases every year. Based on these problems, efforts need to increase sweet corn production by increasing soil fertility. This study aims to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer and coffee skin on the growth and yield of sweet corn plants, and whether or not the interaction of the two factors is real.This research was conducted in Pulo Rungkom Village, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency. This research was conducted for 3 months, from June to September 2024. The method used in this research is a 2-factor Randomized Group Design with 3 replications. The first factor is NPK Fertilizer (N) consisting of 3 levels, namely: N0 = 0 kg, N2 = 4.2 g, N3 = 8.4 g, The second factor is Coffee Peel Compost Fertilizer (K) consisting of 3 levels, namely: K0 = 0 kg, K1 = 9.2 kg, K2 = 11.5 kg, The variables observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, cob weight, cob weight without cob, cob length, cob length without cob, cob diameter without cob, cob diameter without cob and yield (tons/ha).It is necessary to conduct further research on the dosage of biocompost and mycorrhizal fertilizers to be more optimal with the conditions of the land and plants used so that the application gets results that affect the growth and yield of sweet corn plants.
