Abstract

ABSTRACT Potato crops in Central Aceh whose productivity has decreased from year to year, starting in 2018 with an area of 223 ha, production of 43,760 tons, productivity of 196.23 tons/ha, until in 2021, namely 49.80 ha, production of 1,871 tons and productivity of 37.57 tons/ha. Agricultural land in Central Aceh District has varying slopes so it is necessary to apply conservation principles in crop cultivation on sloping land. This study aims to identify and determine the level of land suitability for potato crops based on altitude and slope in Central Aceh District. This research was conducted from May to July 2024. In this research, a survey was conducted to match potato crop land suitability criteria with land characteristic data in order to create a potato crop land suitability map. The findings revealed that in the Central Aceh Regency, the land suitability class with regard to altitude and slope is categorized as Class S3 (marginally suitable) at altitudes ranging from 1100-1900 m above sea level, specifically at sampling point 1 and sampling point 2. Various factors were identified as limiting the land suitability, including average temperature, base saturation, pH (H2O), P2O5, slope, and erosion hazard.
