Abstract
ABSTRACT Corn is a plant native to tropical regions, the third source of carbohydrates after wheat and rice. It is categorized as a vegetable when it is harvested before pollination or has not yet produced seeds, called baby corn. Semi-maize production in Indonesia continues to increase, but has not been able to meet increasing market demand. The main obstacle to cultivating corn is the unavailability of semi-high-yielding varieties of corn, so we still use available hybrid corn. Increasing spring corn production can be done by applying organic fertilizer such as cow manure. One of the organic fertilizers that can improve soil quality, provide macro nutrients for plants, and improve the availability of soil nutrients. This research aims to determine the growth and yield of several corn varieties baby corn due to the application of cow manure. Carried out in Caloek Giri village, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency from April to June 2024. Using a two-factor randomized block design, the gardening factor, namely semi-corn varieties, consists of 4 levels. The second factor of cow manure consists of 3 levels, each treatment is repeated 3 times. The variables observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, age at which female flowers appeared, age at which male flowers appeared, length of cobs with husks, length of cobs without husks, weight of cobs with husks, weight of cobs without husks, number of cobs planted and yield tons/ha. The results of this study showed a real interaction effect between corn varieties and cow manure on plant height, number of leaves, length of cobs with husks and length of cobs without husks. In the corn variety treatment, it had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, and had a very significant effect on plant height, number of leaves, age at which female flowers appeared, age at which male flowers appeared, length of cobs with husks, length of cobs without husks and number of cobs planted. Cow manure treatment had a significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, and cob weight without husk. And it has a very significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, length of husk cobs, length of cobs without husks, weight of husk cobs, number of cobs planted. and tonnes/ha.
