Abstract
ABSTRACT Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis Jacq.) is a leading commodity for Indonesia in international trade. In 2020, the area of oil palm plantations was 14,586,597 ha, with a total production of 45,741,845 tons. This study aims to see the growth response of oil palm seedlings due to the concentration of young coconut water immersion and the dose of tea pulp compost in the pre-nursery phase. This research was conducted at the Experimental Garden of Malikussaleh University and Agroecotechnology Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University from June to September 2024. This study used a two-factor group randomized design with three replications. The first factor is coconut water (A) consisting of 3 levels A0 (control), A1 (200 ml/L distilled water), A2 (400 ml/L distilled water). The second factor is tea pulp compost (K) consisting of 3 levels K0 (0 g/polybag), K1 (180 g/polybag), K2 (200 g/polybag). Therefore, there were 9 treatment combinations with 3 replications, resulting in 27 experimental units. The observed variables include plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf chlorophyll content, root length, plant wet weight, plant dry weight. The results showed that the treatment of young coconut water soaking concentration had an effect on plant height and root length. The dose of tea pulp compost affects plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf chlorophyll, and fresh weight of plants. There was no interaction between the treatment of young coconut water soaking concentration and the dose of tea pulp compost on all variables observed. Keywords: Oil palm seedlings, Tea bagasse compost, Young coconut water
