Abstract
Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is a widely cherished culinary herb in Indonesia, renowned for its distinctive aroma and numerous health benefits. This study aims to investigate the effects of chicken manure and liquid organic fertilizer from lamtoro leaves on the growth and yield of shallot plants. The research was conducted in Trienggadeng Village, Makmur District, Bireuen Regency from July to September 2024. The design employed was a factorial randomized block design with three replications. The first factor was chicken manure (K) with four levels: K0 = 0 tons/ha (0 g/polybag), K1 = 10 tons/ha (64 g/polybag), K2 = 20 tons/ha (128 g/polybag), and K3 = 30 tons/ha (192 g/polybag). The second factor was the liquid organic fertilizer of lamtoro leaves (P) with three levels: P0 = 0 ml/L of water, P1 = 300 ml/L of water, and P2 = 600 ml/L of water. The results indicated that the application of chicken manure significantly enhanced several growth and production parameters of shallot, including plant height, bulb quantity, bulb diameter, root length, root weight, as well as the fresh and dry weight of the bulbs. The optimal dose of chicken manure was found to be 30 tons/ha (192 g/polybag). The use of liquid organic fertilizer from lamtoro leaves also resulted in improvements in leaf quantity, bulb diameter, root length, root weight, as well as the fresh and dry weight of the bulbs, with the best dosage being 600 ml/L of water. Analysis results indicated no significant interaction between the treatments of chicken manure and liquid organic fertilizer from lamtoro leaves concerning all observed variables in this study.
