Abstract

Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L) is a crop with great potential for development in Indonesia. Fluctuations in tomato production in Aceh Province have prompted efforts to improve yields, one of which is by adding organic growing media and microoganisms. This study aims to examine the effect of providing growing media and jakaba, as well as their interaction, on the growth and yield of tomato plants. The research was conducted at the Experimental Garden and Agroecotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, from May to July 2024. The study employed a Factorial Randomized Block Design with two factors. The first factor was the growing media, consisting of three levels: M0 (topsoil), M1 (growing media + rice husk charcoal + cow manure in a 1:2:3 ratio), and M2 (growing media + rice husk charcoal + cow manure in a 1:3:2 ratio). The second factor was jakaba, consisting of four levels: J0 (0 ml/l), J1 (15 ml/l), J2 (20 ml/l), and J3 (25 ml/l). The treatment of growing media had a significant to very significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, chlorophyll content, flowering age, number of fruits per plant, fruit weight per plant, fruit diameter, and fruit length. The M1 growing media produced the best results. Additionally, the application of jakaba at a concentration of J1 (15 ml/l) also had a positive effect on plant height, chlorophyll content, flowering age, and the number of fruits per plant. The interaction between growing media and jakaba had a significant to very significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, and the number of fruits per plant, with the M1J3 combination yielding the highest results
