Abstract

ABSTRACT Anadara granosa clam is one type of marine biota from the bivalve class, which lives relatively settled on the bottom of the waters. At Lancok Beach, the activities of the community in catching A. granosa clams no longer pay attention to size, sex and time; where even small sizes that have not reached the consumption size are also often taken and eaten or traded. The objective of this study was to analyze the size variation, demographic structure and condition index of A. granosa mussels at Lancok Beach, Syamtalira Bayu District, North Aceh Regency based on morphometrics. Research using exploratory survey method in coastal areas. The data showed that the morphometric size of A. granosa clams at Lancok Beach, Syamtalira Bayu Subdistrict, North Aceh Regency had an average shell length of 20.8-23.9 mm, shell width of 18.9-21.7 mm, total shell height of 16.6-19.3 mm, ligament length of 15.0-17.3 mm, upper shell height of 8.8-10. 5 mm, lower shell height 7.9-9.2 mm, total body weight 4.05-7.02 g, and meat weight 0.47-0.94 g; furthermore, the results of the analysis of the demographic structure of A. granosa mussels at Lancok Beach contained one to two age groups and the results of the analysis of the overall condition index were classified as thin with values <40%.
