Abstract
ABSTRACT Coastal areas are important areas when viewed from various perspectives, both planning and management. The Cemara beach tourist area is located in Gandapura District, Bireuen Regency, and is one of the beaches that is a tourist destination. The Cemara beach tourist area is one of the places that has many community activities that have the potential to cause water pollution and affect the quality of the surrounding sea water. The entry of organic and inorganic pollutants into coastal water bodies can cause the quality of the water to experience biological degradation. To preserve the coast and sea, it is necessary to manage the quality and control of seawater pollution using the Storet method, namely a method for determining water quality status by comparing each characteristic or parameter of existing water quality with quality standards, so that the water quality status becomes an index that states the level of seawater quality. This research will be conducted for 3 (three) weeks with sampling 1 day/week in September-October 2024. The method used in the field in this study is a survey method with a station point determination technique using purposive sampling. Analysis of water quality studies using the storet method obtained a value of -4 which indicates that the water quality at Cemara Beach is included in the lightly polluted category. The parameters of odor, BOD, DO, temperature, salinity, pH and turbidity in the waters of Cemara Beach do not exceed the sea water quality standards for marine tourism in accordance with the Decree of the Minister of Environment Number 51 of 2004. Meanwhile, the brightness parameters do not comply with seawater quality standards according to the Decree of the Minister of Environment Number 51 of 2004. So after conducting an analysis using the Storet method, the water quality at Cemara Beach is included in the water quality classification class two (good) and according to Government Regulation Number 82 of 2001, water that is included in the class two (good) classification is suitable for marine tourism.
