Abstract

ABSTRACT Seed factor is one of the problems to be considered in the decline in production. This is because the declining seed quality will have an impact on production results that are not optimal. Quality seeds can also experience a decrease in quality due to improper storage or the seed has exceeded its expiry date. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of concentration and long soaking shallot extract on germination of expired spinach seeds. This research was conducted in Reulet Timu, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency. This study was conducted in September 2024.The method used in this study is a random Design Group (with) 2 factorial. Concentration treatment factor (K) consists of 4 levels, namely: K0 = control, K1 = shallot extract 25%, K2 = shallot extract 50% and K3 = shallot extract 75 %. Immersion treatment factor (P) consists of 3 levels, namely: P1 = immersion 2 hours, P2 = immersion 4 hours, P2 = immersion 6 hours. Observation variables are maximum growth potential, germination, vigor index, synchronicity of growth and speed of growth. The results of this study showed that there is an interaction between the treatment of onion extract concentration and soaking in the index variables vigor, simultaneity of growth and speed of growth. Concentration treatment affects the observation variables of germination, synchronicity of growth and speed of growth. Soaking treatment affects the maximum growth potential, germination, vigor index, uniformity of growth and speed of growth. Keywords: Hormon, germination, vigors, viability
