Abstract
This study aims to analyze the risks in rice farming (Oryza sativa L.) in Bendahara District, Aceh Tamiang Regency. The analyzed risks include production and price risks. The research was conducted using a purposive sampling approach, with random sampling applied to select 40 respondents from three villages. Data were collected through surveys using questionnaires and analyzed using the coefficient of variation (CV), variance, standard deviation, and lower limit (L). The results indicate that production risk has a CV of 0.610 and a lower limit (L) of -844, categorizing it as high risk. The primary contributing factors include floods, pest and disease infestations, weather changes, and water availability. Meanwhile, price risk has a CV of 0.020 and L of 6161, categorizing it as low risk, indicating that market fluctuations have minimal impact on rice farming income. Given these findings, production risk is the primary challenge for rice farmers in Bendahara District. To mitigate these risks, strategies such as drainage development, the use of pest and flood-resistant rice varieties, and increased access to farmer training are essential. These measures are expected to enhance the resilience and sustainability of rice farming in the region. Keywords: Coefficient of variation, Farmers, Farming risk, Rice farming, Mitigation
