Abstract

ABSTRACT In Indonesia peanut (Arachis hypogaea L) is a legume crop that is utilized as a source of vegetable protein in Indonesia. One of the obstacles in peanut production is the loss of production during the rainy season due to waiting for late harvesting time. efforts that can be made are by setting the planting distance and cow manure. The purpose of the study was to determine the effect of planting distance and cow manure, as well as their interaction on the growth and yield of peanuts. This research was conducted in the Experimental Garden and in the Agroecotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. The design used was a 2-factor group randomized design. The results showed that plant spacing had a very significant effect on the variables of plant height, number of branches, stem diameter, flowering age, number of root nodules, number of pods per plant, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seeds, and production/ha. The use of cow manure had a significant effect on the variable number of branches, and a very significant effect on the variables of plant height, stem diameter, flowering age, number of pods, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant, and production/ha. There was no interaction between the treatment of planting distance and cow manure. The best treatment was obtained at a spacing of 20x30 cm + 6kg/plot cow manure.
