Abstract

Oil palm (Elaeis guineensis) is one of Indonesia's mainstay plantation crop commodities, because it is able to become the largest foreign exchange contributor to the country. The increase in the area of oil palm plantations in Indonesia during 2017-2021 was 1.5%. As the area of oil palm land increases, the need for oil palm seeds also increases. The aim of this research is to see the growth response of oil palm seedlings due to the application of solid waste from sugar cane factories (blotong) and NPK fertilizer in the pre-nursery phase. This research was conducted in the land behind the boarding house and the Agroecotechnology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. This research was conducted for 3 months starting from May to July 2024. The method used in this research is a 2 factorial Randomized Group Design (RAK). The first factor for the treatment of sugar cane/blotong factory solid waste (T) consists of 3 levels, namely: TO = control, T1 = 150 g/polybag and T2 = 300 g/polybag. The second factor of NPK fertilizer treatment (N) consists of 3 levels, namely: N0 = control, N1 = 1.5 g/polybag, N2 = 2.5 g/polybag. The variables observed in this research were: plant height, number of leaves, leaf chlorophyll content, plant fresh weight, plant dry weight, root length, root fresh weight and root dry weight. The results of this research show that there are several combinations between the treatment of solid waste from sugar cane factories (blotong) and NPK fertilizer, namely the variables of plant height and number of leaves at the age of 7, 9 and 11 WAP, the variable of chlorophyll content at the age of 5 WAP, the variable of the fresh weight of the plant, plant dry weight and root length at 11 WAP. The sugarcane bagasse compost treatment affected the variables of plant height, number of leaves, leaf chlorophyll content, plant fresh weight, plant dry weight and root fresh weight. Application of NPK fertilizer influences all observed variables. The observation results showed that the use of 150 g/polybag bagasse compost treatment and 1.5 g/polybag NPK fertilizer treatment was the best dose.
