Abstract

Peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) holds significant economic value and is a strategic commodity in Indonesia due to its high protein and vegetable fat content. The seeds are consumable directly and serve as raw materials for various industries, while the meal can be utilized as livestock feed. However, peanut production and development have been hindered by factors such as the reduction in cultivation areas due to land-use changes and suboptimal agricultural practices, including the use of organic and inorganic fertilizers to improve soil physical properties. This study was conducted in Gampong Pulo Rungkom, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency, and the Laboratory of the Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University, from May to July 2024. A factorial randomized block design (RBD) was employed with two factors: Factor I (V) consisted of three varieties V1: Kancil, V2: Kelinci, V3: Tasia; Factor II (U) involved urea application rates U0: 0 g/plot (control), U1: 6 g/plot (50 kg/ha), U2: 12 g/plot (100 kg/ha). The results indicated that the choice of variety significantly affected plant height at 4, 6, and 8 weeks after planting (WAP), flowering time, number of pods, number of seeds, dry seed weight, 100-seed dry weight, dry seed weight per plot, and yield per hectare. It also notably influenced the number of branches at 2 WAP. Urea application alone had a significant impact on plant height from 2 to 8 WAP, number of branches from 2 to 8 WAP, stem diameter at 6 and 8 WAP, flowering time, root nodules, number of pods, number of seeds, dry seed weight, 100-seed dry weight, dry seed weight per plot, and yield per hectare, as well as a notable effect on root length and pod weight. There was an interaction between variety and urea application on plant height at 2 WAP, number of branches at 2 WAP, and dry seed weight per plant.
