Abstract
ABSTRACT The decline in lake water quality due to pollution interferes with aquatic life. Pollution can cause eutrophication in the waters. The biological aspect is useful, as organisms reflect changes in water quality decline. Dissolved Oxygen is a water quality parameter that has a role in monitoring water stability, dissolved oxygen affects zooplankton if the DO value is high or low. The purpose of the study was to analyze the distribution of the relationship between dissolved oxygen and zooplankton abundance. The study used a survey method in 7 different catchment areas. The data shows that the highest horizontal DO concentration at station 4 was 7.5 mg/L, the lowest at station 2 was 5.6 mg/L. The highest vertical DO concentration was in the photic zone at 7.1 mg/L, the lowest was in the aphotic zone at 6.5 mg/L. The highest temporal DO concentration in the 1st week of observation was 7.3 mg/L and the lowest in the 3rd week of observation was 6.3 mg/L. The highest horizontal zooplankton abundance was at station 6 at 37.5 individuals/L and the lowest at station 5 at 25.0 individuals/L. The highest vertical zooplankton abundance was in the aphotic zone at 36.3 individuals/L and the lowest was in the photic zone at 27.5 individuals/L. The highest temporal zooplankton abundance was in the 1st week of observation at 7.3 mg/L and the lowest was in the 3rd week of observation at 6.3 mg/L. Analysis of the relationship between DO and zooplankton abundance shows an R² value of 0.1035. This value shows that the effect of DO on zooplankton abundance is 10.35%. The results of dissolved oxygen and zooplankton abundance in freshwater marine lakes show a weak relationship, so it is necessary to study the physical and chemical parameters of water in different seasons.
