Abstract

ABSTRACT SOFIA JASMIN SIAGIAN. Implementation of the School Literacy Movement Program at SMAN 6 Lhokseumawe. Indonesian Language Education Study Program FKIP Malikussaleh University, 2024. This study aims to obtain information about the implementation of the school literacy program at SMAN 6 Lhokseumawe. This research uses qualitative methods with descriptive type of research. The research location was SMAN 6 Lhokseumawe. The sample of this study was selected by purposive sampling involving the principal, vice curriculum, librarian, 2 Indonesian language teachers, and 10 students. Data were collected using observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Analyzed through three stages, namely data reduction, presentation and conclusion drawing and data validity testing using source and technique triangulation techniques. The results showed that the implementation of the school literacy program at SMAN 6 Lhokseumawe includes the habituation stage, through literacy activities 15 minutes before learning begins, and creating a garden. The development stage, the school holds competitions every year and gives awards to students who often borrow books in the library. At the learning stage, educators create a comfortable and pleasant class and provide literacy-based questions. The supporting factors are the entire school community, and the school library, and the inhibiting factors are the lack of student interest in reading, the lack of reading materials, and the limited time allocation.
