Abstract
Shallot (Allium ascalonicum L.) is an important horticultural commodity widely cultivated as a culinary spice and traditional medicinal plant. One of the major challenges in shallot cultivation is the excessive use of inorganic fertilizers, which may reduce soil fertility and negatively affect soil microbial activity. The application of organic fertilizers is therefore considered an environmentally friendly alternative for improving soil fertility and supporting sustainable crop production. This study aimed to determine the effects of goat manure compost and Jakaba liquid organic fertilizer (LOF Jakaba) on the growth and yield of shallot plants. The study was conducted from March to May 2026 at the Experimental Garden and Plant Physiology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Malikussaleh University. The research used a two-factor Randomized Block Design (RBD) was employed with three replications. The first factor was the dose of goat manure compost, consisting of K0 (0 g/polybag), K1 (45 g/polybag), and K2 (90 g/polybag). The second factor was the concentration of LOF Jakaba, consisting of J0 (0%), J1 (30%), and J2 (40%). The K1 and K2 treatments were equivalent to 20 and 40 t/ha, respectively. The J1 treatment consisted of 300 mL of LOF Jakaba diluted with 700 mL of water, while J2 consisted of 400 mL of LOF Jakaba diluted with 600 mL of water. The results showed that goat manure compost significantly affected plant height, number of leaves, number of tillers, number of tubers per clump, fresh tuber weight, dry tuber weight, root weight, root length, root volume, and yield per hectare, with the best treatment obtained at K2 (90 g/polybag). LOF Jakaba also significantly affected these growth and yield parameters, with the best treatment obtained at J2 (40%). Keywords: Fertilization, horticulture, microoganisms, sustainable, tajuk..
