Abstract

Microgreens are young vegetables harvested 7–14 days after planting; known for their high nutritional content, they hold potential as functional foods. This study aimed to determine the effects of growing medium composition and eco-enzyme application on the growth, yield, and quality of microgreens across several vegetable varieties. The research was conducted at an agricultural greenhouse in Reuleut Timu, Dewantara District, North Aceh Regency, in August 2025. A Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors and three replications was employed, focusing on growing medium composition and vegetable type. Observed parameters included plant height, number of leaves, root length, fresh weight, root weight, and total soluble solids (TSS). The results indicated that growing medium composition and eco-enzyme application did not significantly affect microgreens growth and yield. However, the first factor growing medium (M)—did not enhance all observed parameters. Meanwhile, the second factor vegetable type (J) showed a significant influence on several parameters, such as plant height (J1 = radish, 10.5 cm), number of leaves (J1 = 2.35), root length (J1 = 2.55 cm), and root weight (J1 = 1.45). Based on these findings, variations in growing medium composition and vegetable type significantly influenced root length (M2+J1 = 2.21 cm).
