Abstract

ABSTRACK Dyslipidemia is a lipid metabolism disorder that triggers lipid accumulation in hepatocytes, posing a risk for Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). Objective: This study aims to analyze the effect of 70% ethanol extract of Moringa leaves (Moringa oleifera) on the liver histopathological features of dyslipidemic rat models. Methods: This research employed a laboratory experimental design with six test groups: Normal Control, Negative Control (High-Fat Diet), Positive Control (Simvastatin 7 mg/kgBW), and Moringa leaf extract at doses of 250, 500, and 750 mg/kgBW. Histopathological data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test followed by the Post hoc Dunn test. Results: The results showed that the negative control group experienced significant histopathological damage compared to the normal control (p=0.000). The administration of Moringa leaf extract at a dose of 500 mg/kgBW showed a significant improvement compared to the negative control group (p=0.003) and demonstrated effectiveness equivalent to simvastatin (p=1.000). Conversely, the 250 mg/kgBW and 750 mg/kgBW doses did not show significant differences compared to the negative control group (p>0.05). Conclusion: The administration of Moringa leaf extract at a dose of 500 mg/kgBW is the most effective dose in repairing liver histopathological damage in dyslipidemic rat models. Keywords: Dyslipidemia, Ethanol 70%, Liver Histopathology, Moringa oleifera.
