Abstract

ABSTRAK Paparan asap pembakaran batu bata merupakan salah satu faktor risiko lingkungan kerja yang dapat berdampak terhadap kesehatan sistem pernapasan, khususnya fungsi paru. Pekerja pembuat batu bata berisiko tinggi terpapar partikel halus dan gas beracun dalam jangka waktu lama, yang dapat menyebabkan gangguan fungsi paru. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui karakteristik pekerja, fungsi paru, serta hubungan antara lama paparan asap pembakaran batu bata dengan fungsi paru pada pekerja pembuat batu bata di Desa Lancang Barat, Aceh Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain analitik observasional dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Sampel penelitian berjumlah 98 responden yang dipilih menggunakan teknik total sampling. Data dikumpulkan melalui wawancara menggunakan kuesioner serta pemeriksaan fungsi paru menggunakan spirometri. Analisis data dilakukan secara univariat dan bivariat menggunakan uji Chi-square dengan tingkat signifikansi 0,007. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar responden berada pada usia produktif dan memiliki lama paparan >8 tahun. Sebagian besar pekerja mengalami gangguan fungsi paru. Hasil analisis bivariat menunjukkan bahwa terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara lama paparan dengan fungsi paru (p = 0,007), di mana pekerja dengan paparan lebih dari 8 tahun memiliki proporsi gangguan fungsi paru yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan pekerja dengan paparan ≤8 tahun. Kesimpulan penelitian ini adalah terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara lama paparan asap pembakaran batu bata dengan fungsi paru pekerja. Semakin lama paparan, semakin tinggi risiko terjadinya gangguan fungsi paru. Oleh karena itu, diperlukan upaya pengendalian paparan dan peningkatan kesadaran kesehatan kerja untuk mencegah dampak jangka panjang terhadap sistem pernapasan pekerja. Brick kiln workers are at high risk of inhaling fine particulate matter and toxic gases over a prolonged period, which may lead to impaired lung function. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of workers, assess their lung function, and analyze the relationship between the duration of exposure to brick kiln smoke and lung function among brick kiln workers in Lancang Barat Village, North Aceh. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 98 respondents were included using a total sampling technique. Data were collected through interviews using questionnaires and lung function examinations using spirometry. Data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test at a significance level of 0,007. The results showed that most respondents were in the productive age group and had an exposure duration of more than 8 years. The majority of workers experienced impaired lung function. Bivariate analysis showed a significant relationship between duration of exposure and lung function (p = 0.007), where workers with exposure of more than 8 years had a higher proportion of lung function impairment compared to those with exposure of ≤8 years. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between the duration of exposure to brick kiln smoke and lung function among workers. The longer the exposure duration, the higher the risk of impaired lung function. Therefore, efforts to control exposure and improve occupational health awareness are needed to prevent long-term respiratory health effects.
