Abstract

ABSTRACT Pakcoy is the vegetables that easy to cultivate. Liquid organic fertilizer is a fermented solution of organic materials that effectively stimulates plant growth. This study aims to determine the effect of liquid organic fertilizer from water hyacinth and planting media on the growth of pakcoy with hydroponic system. The research method used a split plot design (RPT) consisting of two treatments. The first factor was the concentration of liquid organic fertilizer (P) with three concentrations of 300 ml, 400 ml and 500 ml. The second factor was the planting media (M) with three different types of rice husk charcoal, cocopeat and rockwool. The results of the analysis of variance showed that the liquid organic fertilizer factor singly had a very significant effect on the leaf area, plant fresh weight, root volume, root fresh weight, harvest index and had a significant effect on the leaf number, plant height, stem diameter, root length, and chlorophyll amount. The use of different types of planting media factor singly had a very significant effect on the variables of leaf number, plant height, leaf area, plant fresh weight and had a significant effect on the stem diameter, root fresh weight, and harvest index. There were interaction between liquid organic fertilizer and planting media on the variables of stem diameter, leaf area, plant fresh weight, root volume and root fresh weight.
